🔍 Discover People on myteeb

How Discovery Works

The Discover page is your main feed for finding new people. myteeb uses a smart location-based algorithm to show you the most relevant profiles first:

  • Boosted profiles appear at the very top (profiles currently running a Profile Boost).
  • People from your city come next — local connections first.
  • People from your country follow after that.
  • Everyone else sorted by recent activity — people active recently appear higher.
💡 Tip: Keep your city and country up-to-date in your profile to get the best local match results.

Grid View vs Swipe View

myteeb offers two ways to browse the discovery feed. Toggle between them using the view buttons at the top right of the Discover page.

🗂️ Grid View

Grid view shows multiple profile cards on screen at once — perfect if you like to browse and compare before deciding. Each card shows the person's photo, name, age, location, shared interests, and a ❤️ Like button. You can scroll through many profiles quickly.

🃏 Swipe View

Swipe view presents one profile at a time, full-screen card style. Use it when you want to focus on one person properly before deciding. You can:

  • Drag the card right → Like
  • Drag the card left → Pass
  • Drag the card up → Super Like ⭐
  • Tap the ✕ button → Pass
  • Tap the ❤️ button → Like
  • Tap the ⭐ button → Super Like
The ⭐ Super Like button shows your remaining daily super likes next to it. When it reaches 0, the button is disabled until midnight when your quota resets.

Using Discovery Filters

Click the Filters button (slider icon) at the top of the Discover page to refine your results. Available filters:

Age Range

Set a minimum and maximum age. The default is 18–80. Profiles outside your selected range are hidden.

Gender

Show Women, Men, or Everyone. By default this follows your "I'm interested in" preference from your profile settings.

Country & City

Filter to see only people from a specific country or city. Useful when you're travelling or want to meet people in a particular place.

Online Only

Toggle this on to only see people who are currently online (active within the last 15 minutes). Great for finding people available to chat right now.

Relationship Goal

Filter by what someone is looking for — Dating, Friendship, Something Casual, or Marriage.

Religion

Filter to see only profiles with a specific religious background.

Smoking

Choose whether to see non-smokers, occasional smokers, or smokers only.

Wants Children

Filter by whether someone wants children, doesn't want children, or is open to it.

💡 Tip: Active filters are indicated with a blue "On" badge on the Filters button. Click Reset Filters to clear everything and go back to the default discovery feed.

Shared Interests on Profile Cards

When you have interests selected on your profile, myteeb automatically highlights shared interests on profile cards — you'll see coloured tags like "🎵 Music" or "✈️ Travel" appear on cards of people who share those interests with you.

Shared interests are a great conversation starter once you match. Up to 3 shared interests are shown per card (and more in the full swipe card view).

Who Can See Me?

By default your profile appears in everyone's Discover feed who matches your gender and age criteria. There are a few things that affect your visibility:

  • Active account: You must be active (not deactivated or banned) to appear.
  • Complete profile: Profiles with a photo rank higher in the feed.
  • Profile Boost: Running a boost puts you at the very top of the feed for everyone near you for 30 minutes. Learn more about Boosts →
  • Incognito Mode: When enabled (Silver/Gold plan), you can browse others' profiles without recording a view — but your own profile still appears in the Discover feed normally. Learn more →
  • Block: If you block someone (or they block you), neither of you will appear in the other's Discover feed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I seeing the same people repeatedly?
myteeb only hides profiles you've already liked or passed. If you've gone through everyone in your filters, widen your age range or location, or come back later as new members join. You can also click Reset Filters to broaden your search.
I can't see anyone — why?
This usually means your filters are too narrow. Try removing the city filter, widening the age range, or switching gender to "Everyone". If your profile is incomplete (especially no photo), it can also affect the mutual algorithm.
Does the Discover feed refresh automatically?
No, the feed is loaded when you open the page. To see new profiles, scroll to the bottom and use the pagination links, or refresh the page. In swipe view, the deck is pre-loaded — scroll back and start a new swipe session to see fresh profiles.
Can I pass on someone and see them again later?
Passing records a "pass" in the system and hides that profile from your feed. There is currently no way to undo a pass — so only pass on people you're sure you're not interested in.
