🔒 Privacy & Safety

🕵️ Incognito Mode

Incognito Mode lets you browse profiles on myteeb without appearing in anyone's "Who Viewed Me" list. It's perfect when you want to explore without leaving a trace.

What Incognito Mode Does

  • Your profile views are not recorded — the person you viewed won't see you in their "Viewed Me" list.
  • Your profile still appears normally in the Discover feed — incognito only affects viewing, not discoverability.
  • Likes you send are still recorded — the recipient will see who liked them.

Plan Requirement

Incognito Mode is a Silver and Gold plan exclusive feature. Free users cannot enable it.

How to Enable Incognito Mode

  1. 1
    Go to Settings

Click the ⚙️ gear icon in the sidebar to open your Settings page.

  2. 2
    Find "Incognito Browsing"

Scroll to the Privacy section. You'll see the Incognito Browsing toggle. If you're on Silver or Gold, it will be active.

  3. 3
    Toggle it on and save

Flip the switch and click Save Changes. An "ON" badge will appear next to the toggle confirming it's enabled.

💡 Tip: You can tell Incognito is active by the "ON" badge on the toggle and the 🕵️ icon in your sidebar. Toggle it off any time to resume normal browsing.

Who Viewed Me

myteeb shows you a list of people who have recently viewed your profile. You can see this list in the Notifications section or on your Profile page.

A few things to know:

  • Only views from users not in Incognito Mode are recorded.
  • Profiles you've blocked won't appear, and you won't appear on theirs.
  • Viewing your own profile doesn't count as a view.

Online Status Visibility

When you're actively using myteeb, a green dot appears on your profile card in the Discover feed and in chat. This indicates you're online right now (active within the last few minutes).

To control who sees your online status, go to Settings → Privacy and adjust the "Show online status" toggle. Options:

  • Everyone — your green dot is visible to all users (default).
  • Matches only — only people you've matched with can see your online indicator.
  • Nobody — your online status is always hidden.

Blocking a User

If someone makes you uncomfortable or acts inappropriately, you can block them instantly. Blocking is permanent until you unblock.

What Happens When You Block Someone

  • They cannot see your profile in Discover or search.
  • Any existing match and chat between you is permanently removed.
  • They cannot send you messages or likes.
  • They won't know they've been blocked — you simply disappear from their experience.

How to Block Someone

  1. 1
    Open their profile

Click on their profile card or open the chat and tap their name.

  2. 2
    Open the action menu

Click the ⋮ (three dots) menu in the top right of their profile page.

  3. 3
    Select "Block"

Confirm in the popup. The block takes effect immediately.

To manage your block list, go to Settings → Blocked Users. You can unblock anyone from there.

Reporting Inappropriate Behaviour

Please report any user who violates myteeb's community guidelines. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team and repeated violations result in bans.

When to Report

  • Fake or impersonation profiles
  • Inappropriate, explicit, or offensive profile photos
  • Harassment or threatening messages
  • Scam, spam, or suspicious links
  • Underage users
  • Any behaviour that made you feel unsafe or uncomfortable

How to Report Someone

  1. 1
Go to their profile or open the chat
  2. 2
Click the ⋮ menu → "Report"
  3. 3
    Select a reason

Choose the category that best describes the issue (fake profile, harassment, explicit content, underage, spam, other).

  4. 4
    Add details and submit

Optionally add a note. Click Submit — our team will review your report.

💡 Tip: You can report and block someone at the same time. Block first to stop contact immediately, then report so the team can review the account. Reporting alone doesn't block the person.

Personal Safety Tips

  • Never share personal contact info (phone, home address, workplace) in your profile bio or early messages.
  • Video call before meeting — a quick video chat verifies the person matches their photos.
  • Meet in public for a first date — a coffee shop or busy restaurant is ideal.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
  • Don't send money — anyone asking for money is almost certainly a scammer regardless of their story.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, block and report. Your safety matters more than being polite.

If you're ever in danger, contact your local emergency services (911 / 999 / 112). myteeb staff are not able to respond to emergency situations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the person know when I block them?
No. Blocking is silent — they simply can no longer see your profile or contact you. There's no notification sent to the blocked user.
Can I unblock someone?
Yes. Go to Settings → Blocked Users to see everyone you've blocked and unblock them if you change your mind.
What happens to my report? Do I hear back?
Our moderation team reviews all reports, usually within 24–48 hours. We don't send individual updates on report outcomes to protect the privacy of the review process, but serious violations result in warnings, restrictions, or bans.
Does enabling Incognito Mode stop me from getting likes?
No. Incognito Mode only affects who can see when you view their profile. Your profile still appears in the Discover feed and people can still like you or match with you normally.
